Chronology of Events

Sorry for the lengthy post, but as promised, I wanted to catch each of you up on the events of the weeks leading to our move to Whiskey Bluff.  From this point, I will do my best to keep posts brief.

I am sure that some things were left out, as the world was spinning pretty quickly, but here is my best recollection of the evolution of our move.

July 30 – Sold House.  Contract called for a September 15  Closing Date
August 8 – Knowing we would not have a home to move into, we went shopping for a Travel Trailer
August 17 – Buyers wanted to push close date out to October 15.  Buyer had points on a CC that he wanted to use to go to a friend’s wedding before closing the card, at his bank’s request.  You know me…couldn’t or wouldn’t say no.

NOW IT GETS BUSY!
October 3 – B and I went back to the Travel Trailer Dealer and made an offer on 2 different trailers.  Each offer was refused but countered by the manager.  We decided to leave and take our chances.
October 6 – Salesman from the Travel Trailer Dealer called back and said if we were still willing to offer what we had offered last week, they would do the deal.
October 8 – B and I purchased a 28 foot Travel Trailer
October 8 – First Storage Building (Cat House) was delivered.

October 9 – Contacted Septic guy, Water Company, and Electric, having installed a temporary pole on the property near our new home site.
October 10-11 – Begin Insulating and adding attic foil to Cat House.

October 12-13 – Septic guy came out and dug the hole for the tank on the 12th, then returned to install the tank on the 13th.

October 13 – Water and Electric Service Installed. Had plumber install the Ice Machine Storage Building.
October 14th – McClain Delivered Travel Trailer to the property.

October 15 – Move out from Celina had to be completed and Brenda left for NY.  In a rush to get everything out of the house, it was crammed into the Cat House and Trailer, so tight that you could barely move.  Thus began Warren’s trailer life.  I knew that Brenda would want to do the organization part of the trailer, because, well, she’s just good at that kind of stuff.  So I slept with the other half of the bed cluttered with boxes a television and about 6 pillows.  Had one small place where I could get my feet to the floor, if I scooted across to the foot of the bed.  It was crazy, but again, I knew how much B would want to to the organizing, so I left it as it was.
October 20 – Met with some good ol’ boys about putting down a driveway.  This old black dirt would have us trapped if we were not able to get something down before the heavy rains that are in the forecast for the weekend.  They said they could start tomorrow, so they got the job.
October 21 – Driveway guys were here bright and early and started putting down dirty rock base for 1100′ driveway.  Emptied 6 belly dump trucks and spread it, giving us a pretty solid base for the new drive
October 16 – Can hardly find the cats in the Cat House, because we had to store more than I expected.  Ordered a second building.  It will be the cats’ new home until we complete the new big building.  At that time, it will become a Guest house to provide additional space and privacy.
October 21 – Had Guest House Storage Building delivered.  Set the Guest House near the pond, giving it a great view.  Will likely put a small deck in front so that visitors can sit outside and take in the pond while having a cup of coffee.

October 22 – Driveway guys put 3 truckloads of crushed granite on top of base for driveway.  They went at it all day, but for each load, they had to drive an hour and a half each way to pick up.  So it was about 4 hours between loads.  Will be doing at least 3 more loads, but it will be after the upcoming rain has a chance to dry.
October 20 – Concrete guys came and the forms were put down for foundation.  My guess is that they will likely have to re-shoot them to make sure that they are still level after the rain causes the ground swelling that will most certainly happen in this black dirt.

October 22 – I was a little shocked, because the rain is scheduled to happen today, but the pier driller came out and drilled 30 piers to a depth of 15′.  Later that afternoon, the concrete guys poured piers for the foundation.
October 22-24 – We decided that instead of building a steel building, we should have started building an ark. Poured down 8-10 inches of rain over night and a little more the following day.  This black dirt is MESSY!  Good thing the driveway guys got as much done as they did.  We would have been stuck here.
October 24-25 – Begin insulating the Guest House Storage Building and put up strips for mounting the paneling.  Still have a little to do with the insulation and then nailing the tongue and groove wall board up.  Still have the flooring to do, as well, before the cats will move into their new home.  Hoping to get a good bit of it done this upcoming weekend.
October 26 – Drive way people came out with box blade to smooth ruts that were left after the flood.  They have been pretty attentive.  I am glad we were able to get such good guys for this important job.
October 29 – Concrete guys came out to do the trenching

October 29 – Me and B did a little fishing

Now you are all caught up, to the best of my memory!

COMING…
October 30 – Driveway guys plan on putting 3 more loads of crushed granite.  I will also be putting down a rock pad by the Cat House and the  Guest House to make for cleaner access to each of those locations.  Will most likely setup a carport next to the Cat House so that we can have our vehicles under cover in the event of bad weather.

And more…..
